Tetrahydrofuran is a class of heterocyclic organic compounds. It is one of the strongest polar ethers and is used as a medium polar solvent in chemical reactions and extractions.

Tetrahydrofuran can be used as a solvent, as a raw material for organic synthesis, and as a medium-polar aprotic solvent in chemical reactions and extractions. Tetrahydrofuran is a colorless, low-viscosity liquid with an ether-like odor. Tetrahydrofuran is prone to peroxide when stored.
